The Lotte Marines on Monday offered a profuse apology following the arrest of ex-major league infielder Yamaico Navarro for allegedly concealing a bullet in his bag, saying they would act quickly to punish the Dominican.

“We deeply apologize for the situation that has betrayed our fans,” the Marines’ team president Shinya Yamamuro said at a hastily arranged press conference. “We want to reinforce our complying with the law and hope to regain people’s trust.”

“Once we hear from him directly, we will decide on his future.”
