Two U.S. Marines face DUI charges in Okinawa

Two U.S. Marines were arrested separately in Okinawa Prefecture early Sunday on suspicion of drunken driving.

The men were identified as Gunnery Sgt. Marco Julio Morales, 36, and Sgt. Orlando Pena, 26, who are both stationed at the Marine Corps’ Camp Foster. Both denied the charges.

Police allege that both were under driving the influence of alcohol — Morales in the Chatan area at around 12:45 a.m. and Pena on Route 330 in the city of Okinawa at around 5:35 a.m.

A breath test found that Pena had an alcohol reading three times the legal limit, the police said. No information was given on Morales’ alcohol level.
