Japan’s Naomi Osaka defeated China’s Duan Yingying to advance to the third round of the women’s singles at the U.S. Open on Wednesday.

The 18-year-old Osaka, ranked 81st in the world, defeated 103rd-ranked Duan 6-4, 7-6(3) to advance, as compatriots Eri Hozumi and Miyu Kato moved on in the women’s doubles.

“I relaxed a bit too much after taking the lead in the second set,” said Osaka, who eventually sealed the tiebreak and match after 1 hour, 23 minutes, thanks to a forehand unforced error by Duan.
