Since suffering a baseball injury in high school, Yuzuru Yamazaki has been pursuing his personal field of dreams, a quest that started him on an American odyssey 14 years ago.

From studying architecture so he might someday build ballparks, to waiting outside the employees’ gate at New York’s Shea Stadium, to sleeping in a basement in order to learn the baseball business, Yamazaki has done it.

Currently living in Atlanta, Yamazaki made the four-hour drive to Nashville, Tennessee, last month to attend the annual baseball winter meetings in hopes of landing his next job in baseball. Yet, this journey started with him breaking a bone and seeing the movie “Field of Dreams.”
