NEW YORK – Canadian police on Tuesday released an image of a Caucasian man with a 30-year-old Japanese woman who went missing in the southwestern Canadian city of Vancouver earlier this month.
The police are calling for public assistance in identifying the man, who may know something about the situation of the woman, Natsumi Kogawa. She arrived in Vancouver in May to study English.
According to the police, the image was captured by a surveillance camera in Vancouver at 1:27 p.m. on Sept. 8.
The man is slim and of medium height and looks to be around 30 years old. The image shows him wearing a dark top, blue jeans and a baseball cap, holding a black bag with red handles in his right hand and wearing a backpack.
In the image, Kogawa appears to be talking to him and gesturing.
The woman from Aomori Prefecture was last seen on Sept. 7 at her home in the suburbs of Vancouver.
In the morning of the next day, she exchanged messages with a Canadian friend via a free app but did not reply to a message the friend sent in the afternoon of that day, informed sources said.
