Canada’s Mulcair loses leadership vote of left-wing New Democrats

TORONTO The head of Canada’s left-wing New Democrats, Thomas Mulcair, who suffered a massive loss in last year’s election despite beginning the race as a favored contender for prime minister, lost a key leadership vote on Sunday.

Fifty-two percent of delegates voted for a convention to choose a new leader during a party event that was broadcast live from Edmonton.
